Bringing a puppy home is exciting, emotional, and exhausting all at once.
Sometimes we focus on the wrong things.
Sometimes we try to do everything at once.
And sometimes we do what we think we’re “supposed” to do, while skipping the things that actually matter out of guilt.
In this episode, I’m sharing three things I wish every puppy owner truly understood in the first week, so you can focus on what actually matters and let go of the rest.
This episode is especially helpful if:
- You’re preparing to bring a puppy home
- You’re in the first week (or two) and already feeling overwhelmed
- You’re worried you’re doing things “wrong” or missing something important
In this episode, I talk about:
- Why your puppy's freedom is earned, not automatically given
- How giving too much freedom too soon creates more stress instead of less
- Why building habits matters more than teaching cues
- Why supervision and confinement are your most powerful tools, and how they work together
- How using the crate regularly protects your puppy, your home and your sanity
